For my first
day, I made a card for Classical Music Month.
I thought it would be very ordinary to include busts of Bach or measures
of Mozart, so I did an interpretation
of what I think about when I think about classical music. I think of elegant dancing, soft, muted
colors, delicate fabric, sheet music, instruments, European courtyards….all
that to me is what I imagine when I hear
Beethoven’s Fifth.
My
recipe
Watercolor
paper
Graphic 45
“Enchanted Embrace”
Vintage Sheet
Music
Vintage French
Dictionary Pages
Ivory lace
Ivory Cotton
Trim
Ivory Trim with
Pearls
Close to My
Heart Inks in Chocolate and Blush
Cameo Button
Ivory Heart
Button
Organza circles
I cut the
Graphic 45 paper down to one inch smaller on each side than the water color
paper. The entire card is 5 ½” x 6 ½”. I trimmed the edge of the Graphic 45 paper
with a Fiskers Scallop Punch. I bordered
the edge with Vintage Sheet Music and Ivory Cotton Trim. I hand cut a piece of sheet music and
fashioned a rough rosette, and centered with the heart button for one corner
adornment. I made a cluster of various
ivory ribbons and trims and topped them with a rosette made from organza
circles heated with a heat gun. I
centered this with the cameo button and attached it to the top of the cluster
of trim. The very top of the card is
trimmed with music related pictures from a 1938 French dictionary. I printed on textured paper the phrase “Music
is what feelings sound like.” I felt it
was very appropriate because classical music, especially, evokes emotion and
expression like no other form of music.
My second
“holiday” was National Cheeseburger Day, celebrated on September 18th. What to do, what to do….is there a sentiment
for Cheeseburger Day, or is it more of an invitation thing….does anyone
celebrate National Cheeseburger Day, other than the American Cattleman’s
Association? Well, sometimes when you
don’t know what to do, simpler is better.
I used an .svg file from Lettering Delights for the cheeseburger. I welded two of the bases together to create
the base of the card. For my paper, I
chose Co’redinations in standard colors.
I inked the edges to soften. I
added the French Fries by cutting elongated trapezoid in SCAL2. I threw in a couple of handcuts from the same
paper for variety in shape. I layered
these around the back of the bottom base and the front of the bottom base. I adhered another cutout of the base over the
glued on fries for a cleaner look. I
made a greeting flag and used a wooden stir stick to make the hamburger
flag. This card is huge, I’d say about
the size of the burger I’m planning to have to celebrate this fine day! I hope you have enjoyed my 2 cards for these
most interesting days. Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next
month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on October 13, 2012 for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop! Now hop on over to Lisa Peters at http://handmadewithlove-lisa.blogspot.com/
