Happy Father’s Day!
(I hate Father’s Day, FYI. When your Father has passed away, everyone I know seems to
hate the day.)
I have a wonderful,
wonderful husband. (We only have dogs and cats together, and that’s a different
holiday to celebrate.)
Our blog hop theme for our new products this month were for a Patriotic theme (Stars and
Stripes). No matter how much you craft
of a personal nature, sometimes you just repress the memories that you can
showcase. I have done that.
Hello, my name is Lisa, and I am a memory
repressor.
Those who follow my blog know
my one explicit following: I do not
scrapbook, I do not scrapbook, I do not scrapbook. Previously, I have created 3 scrapbook pages
in my entire life. I pride myself on
being a “mixed media crafter.” I have
realized that it is because I do not want to be emotional. EVER.
(my husband would disagree). When
your life’s pictures include your parents, and they have both passed, I see it
as difficult to dredge those up. I
prefer to never see pictures of my parents, because then, I don’t have to think about how much I miss
them.
Regardless, I had a wonderful night last
night, and I owe that to Jessica Shelton-Buffa, our Pinque Peacock HMFIC. She presented us with a blog hop theme and
products….Stars and Stripes….easy and simple, right?
Well, it’s not “easy” if you know my family.
We have more sense of
Patriotism and “Stars and Stripes” in our little fingers than most people feel
in a year. I am from a military
family. I am former military. My dad was military. My brother was military, his son is military, my husband is former military, as was his dad, and his brothers-in-arms….like I said, A VERY MILITARY FAMILY.
We have 3 generations of military in my
immediate family. That is what I have showcased in my post. This is a take on the “traditional”
generation family photo display. In this
scrapbook page (WHAT!?) We have my father, my brother, and my brother’s
son. I searched attics, scanned, re-scanned,
re-re-scanned (I REALLY don’t know how YOU PEOPLE scrapbook! Lol It’s maddening!) reached out to Neice-in-laws…..and found
these. I created the title, because it
was the banner hanging at my Father’s last promotion ceremony. If you aren’t familiar with the military,
“Duty, Honor, Country” is the overall motto of the US MilItary.
They do the things the rest of
us don’t want to do. They have to think
about the things the rest of us never have to imagine. They are away from their families more than
they ever wish to be. They miss
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day,
Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day just so the rest of us can enjoy these days worry
free. If they happen to be your Father
or Grandfather, they go ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty of a protector. A Father is someone who loves you, passes
values on to you, teaches you respect, molds the person you become, sets a
moral example for you. They carry on the
duty of the Fathers of our country.
I cannot think of a better way
to celebrate Father’s Day than to honor those who carry on the values of our
Founding Fathers:
Paul
G. Pate, SSgt, USAF, Retired (Father)
Paul
D. Pate, MSgt, USAF, Retired, (Brother)
David
Pate, MSgt, USAF, Retired, (Uncle)
David
Pate, CMSgt, USAF, Retired (Cousin)
Eric
Pate, TSgt., USAF (Cousin)
A.J.
Pate, SSgt, US Army (Nephew)
Steven
Woodward, Sgt. , US Army, (1994-2000) (HusbAnd)
Harry
Woodward, 1st LT, US Army, (1968-1970) (Father-in-Law)
Robert
Rumph, Colonel, US Army, Retired (Godfather)
Stephen
McCabe, CSM, US Army (Brother)
Scott
McCabe, MSgt., USAF (Brother)
Solomon
McCabe, Sgt. Army (Brother)
Thank
each of you for your service, dedication, sacrifices and the sacrifices of your
families so that you could complete your mission to remain the Guardians, the
Protectors, the Providers, the Father’s for our wonderful America.
This
is my immediate family that carry the tradition’s of our Founding
Father’s. Please, today, while you
celebrate Fathers. thank your carrier’s of our Founding Father’s values, in
addition to mine.
~I hope
you all have a wonderful Father’s Day.

Thank you to you and your family for your service. I come from a huge military family as well. My great uncle was MIA in Korea and he was found and brought home after nearly 60 years. This scrapbook page turned out great. I love how you did the 3 generations on your page. The Pinque Peacock, goodies are a great touch. Great job
ReplyDeleteMilitary family here as well, Father, FIL, brother, nephews, SIL and yes, we owe them a debt of gratitude. Lisa you did a fabulous job on this Lay Out. I too have lost my Father and although I miss him dearly, I have wonderful memories of him. For years it was too painful but once I got past the grieving, the wonderful memories flowed and now I am able to pass this on to my children and grandchildren who never met him. Great use of the PP flowers.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your project..what a great heirloom to pass on... My Dad passed awhile ago but I still miss him everyday..

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Patriotic piece -- a great tribute! this is my first Father's Day without my Dad. He died in March, and I've been dreading today. I'll be glad when it's over, so I totally understand your feelings.
ReplyDeleteLisa..... this is GORGEOUS!! OMG, it is soooo beautiful!!! I can so relate to you too on the scrapbooking... not into it at all... but girl this is awesome. ... and THANK YOU to you and all your family and their families for all they do and have done... as you know I am a huge supporter of my soldiers and vets!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, Lisa first off, thanks for the tears this morning! LOL Secondly, thanks to you and your family for making the sacrifice for my family to have the freedom they enjoy! And last but not least your project is AMAZING!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute! Thanks for sharing about your parents. For someone who doesn't scrap, you rocked it! I love how you made the title using a label maker! My dad was in the Navy for five years and so were a few others of my family. Thanks for the reminder to thank our service men and founding fathers!
