Summer Party Personalized Drink Tag

Hi everyone!  Today I have made for you something that I think would be wonderful to use at those summer picnics, birthday parties and bridal and baby showers.

Personalization of drinking cups/glasses is one of the few ways to cut down on the expense of lost/thrown-away paper and plastic cups.  We all know the Sharpie pairs well with the Solo Cup, but what can you do if you want to be a little (not much) more upscale than a Solo Cup?  Mason jars are a great way to save money on cups, and be environmentally friendly at the same time.  These can be used over and over again.
I have created a chalkboard tag and embellished with both a Pinque Peacock felt popper and Pinque Peacock fabric covered button.  I have used unraveled paper twine to run through the tag hole and tie around the neck of the jar.  Of course, all of these products and colors can be changed for your event.  Best of all, the chalkboard tags can be re-used again and again!

Here’s to fewer thrown away cups at your Summer party!

Pinque Peacock-Alter My Life!

Today, I am featuring the Pinque Peacock Crafty Kit Club!

Hello!  My name is Lisa and I alter things as a hobby. Many crafters look at things and see exactly what they see….me, I look at things and see what the could be.  I look at each product as a raw product, not a finished product. So the Pinque Peacock Crafty Kit Club was just for me!  I ordered the whole kit this month and love the canvases, acrylic paints, wood cut outs, feathers, and paper flowers and findings.  Those of you who follow me know that I couldn’t use them as is…..lol, that is SO NOT ME!

So here goes:  here is what I received…..

And this is the finished product.
In addition to the paints and products in the kit, I used several inks, paints and finishes to adjust them to what I “saw” when I saw this kit.  After I finished the canvas color, I really wanted to stamp a “subway art” style finish.  I didn’t quite get there, but, I love the effect.  Again as before, on alternative objects, I have used black letterpress ink to stand out.  I used the wood cutouts of the hibiscus and butterfly and used the paper flowers, several of which I stained and layer with mini elegant florals from Pinque Peacock.

The ribbon from 3 Jam Girls I received was red…it didn’t match the pallet I had in mind….but you know what….it didn’t’ stop me from dying and glittering it.  Every item in this kit has been altered in some form.  Never stop your imagine and desire to alter!

Until Next Time~

Happy Father’s Day!
(I hate Father’s Day, FYI.  When your Father has passed away, everyone I know seems to hate the day.)
I have a wonderful, wonderful husband. (We only have dogs and cats together, and that’s a different holiday to celebrate.)
Our blog hop theme for our new products this month were for a Patriotic theme (Stars and Stripes).   No matter how much you craft of a personal nature, sometimes you just repress the memories that you can showcase.  I have done that.
Hello, my name is Lisa, and I am a memory repressor.

Those who follow my blog know my one explicit following:  I do not scrapbook, I do not scrapbook, I do not scrapbook.  Previously, I have created 3 scrapbook pages in my entire life.  I pride myself on being a “mixed media crafter.”  I have realized that it is because I do not want to be emotional.  EVER.  (my husband would disagree).  When your life’s pictures include your parents, and they have both passed, I see it as difficult to dredge those up.  I prefer to never see pictures of my parents, because then, I don’t have to think about how much I miss them.
Regardless, I had a wonderful night last night, and I owe that to Jessica Shelton-Buffa, our Pinque Peacock HMFIC.  She presented us with a blog hop theme and products….Stars and Stripes….easy and simple, right?
Well, it’s not “easy” if you know my family.
We have more sense of Patriotism and “Stars and Stripes” in our little fingers than most people feel in a year.  I am from a military family.  I am former military.  My dad was military.  My brother was military, his son is military, my husband is former military, as was his dad, and his brothers-in-arms….like I said, A VERY MILITARY FAMILY.

We have 3 generations of military in my immediate family. That is what I have showcased in my post.  This is a take on the “traditional” generation family photo display.  In this scrapbook page (WHAT!?) We have my father, my brother, and my brother’s son.  I searched attics, scanned, re-scanned, re-re-scanned (I REALLY don’t know how YOU PEOPLE scrapbook! Lol  It’s maddening!)  reached out to Neice-in-laws…..and found these.  I created the title, because it was the banner hanging at my Father’s last promotion ceremony.  If you aren’t familiar with the military, “Duty, Honor, Country” is the overall motto of the US MilItary.

They do the things the rest of us don’t want to do.  They have to think about the things the rest of us never have to imagine.  They are away from their families more than they ever wish to be.  They miss Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day just so the rest of us can enjoy these days worry free.  If they happen to be your Father or Grandfather, they go ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty of a protector.  A Father is someone who loves you, passes values on to you, teaches you respect, molds the person you become, sets a moral example for you.  They carry on the duty of the Fathers of our country.
I cannot think of a better way to celebrate Father’s Day than to honor those who carry on the values of our Founding Fathers:

Paul G. Pate, SSgt, USAF, Retired (Father)
Paul D. Pate, MSgt, USAF, Retired, (Brother)
David Pate, MSgt, USAF, Retired, (Uncle)
David Pate, CMSgt, USAF, Retired (Cousin)
Eric Pate, TSgt., USAF (Cousin)
A.J. Pate, SSgt, US Army (Nephew)
Steven Woodward, Sgt. , US Army, (1994-2000) (HusbAnd)
Harry Woodward, 1st LT, US Army, (1968-1970) (Father-in-Law)
Robert Rumph, Colonel, US Army, Retired (Godfather)
Stephen McCabe, CSM, US Army (Brother)
Scott McCabe, MSgt., USAF (Brother)
Solomon McCabe, Sgt. Army (Brother)

Thank each of you for your service, dedication, sacrifices and the sacrifices of your families so that you could complete your mission to remain the Guardians, the Protectors, the Providers, the Father’s for our wonderful America.

This is my immediate family that carry the tradition’s of our Founding Father’s.  Please, today, while you celebrate Fathers. thank your carrier’s of our Founding Father’s values, in addition to mine.
 UNTIL NEXT TIME~
Lisa

PINQUE PEACOCK JUNE CHALLENGE!!

Welcome to the Pinque Peacock June Challenge!  This month, we have an "Anything Goes" theme, soo, in keeping with "anything goes"….here goes it!

I did an altered gift bag of sorts.  I used a burlap drawstring bag and stamped it with "Faith”,  “Hope”, and “Love" stamps.  When I think of June, I naturally go to thoughts of graduation, weddings and babies….so I did this project with a wedding in mind.  I think this will make a great way to present your bridal parties with gifts, favors for a casual, outdoor wedding and perhaps even fancy enough for the bridal party to carry with, or in lieu of their bouquet.  Keep in mind, you can use canvas (I love to make use of painter’s dropcloth!) denim and almost any other stampable fabric.  The floral accent on the bag was done using a sheer fabric in a yo-yo, and cotton lace done in a yo-yo.  I added a large Elegant Floral on top and finished it off with a natural paper and book-print accent.
I removed the drawstring and re-strung with pearl trim and small satin ribbon.  Where the strands were gathered, I added a second Elegant Floral in a smaller size with the same natural paper and book-print accent.
When I stamped the bag, I tried several kinds of ink, paint, etc.  I ended up using letterpress ink.  It's heavy enough to stand out on the burlap.  If you used canvas, I'm sure you could use a lighter weight ink.  As a fabric scrap hoarder, I cannot stress enough to check out sample and remnant sales at your local craft, fabric store.  The number of times that a curtain fabric sample has ended up in my crafts is ridiculous!
I love how the Elegant Florals add to this project.  These Elegant Florals come in a variety of sizes colors to coordinate with any theme…and the best part, if you need to order something special just ask Jess Here.

Celebrate YOUR style!

Hi there everyone!  Happy 1st day of May!  I am up on the Pinque Peacock Blog today..I'm bringing you a card I made today that truly represents my style.  I used a birdcage cut, along with some raffia, handmade paper, and vintage book pages, along with a beautiful Elegant Floral from Pinque Peacock to make this shabby-fem card.  I love how the greens, ivories and print look together.  I used a white elegant floral and dabbed it with light brown and avocado inks.  I think the inking technique on the elegant florals show just how versatile you can make them….you can highlight them, antique them, glitter them, etc.!

I hope you like this card and it will inspire you to embrace YOUR style in your work.

Have a great day everyone!

A Spring card for Pinque Peacock

Spring is here and unlike some of you, it really looks "Springish" here.  With that comes yard work, outside activities, yard work, festivals, picnics, gardening, and ….have I mentioned yard work yet?  That means less time inside for me, and less time in my crafty space. Today, I used a really cute spring gardening stamp that I have, colored with pencils and blended with Gamsol, and accented with colored twine and a PNQUE PEACOCK tricolor Elegant Floral.  I hope this puts everyone in the mood to do a little gardening, and a lot of crafting…starting with making some extra cards for this busy time of year!

Until next time!

Saturday, March 1, 2014

Hey there everyone!  I'm bringing in our March theme Pinque Peacock which is Easter/Faith.  I decided to create today a napkin ring for your Easter table.  It is so simple it is ridiculous but so beautiful your guests will be amazed.  I took a beautiful Elegant Floral, and added two of my own spiral roses and hot glued them to a paper ribbon. I then shredded the ribbon and added two additional colors to compliment the arrangement.  This is so easy to make, and the Pinque Peacock Elegant Floral really makes your napkin stand out!

Sharing some Pinque Peacock Love

Hello everyone!  Today, I used these beautiful Large and Medium Elegant Florals to add to a jewelry piece I would like to call "Love is Abloom".  A new year to me comes with the anticipation of sharing love and the spring to come…in other words…hearts and flowers!  I used two gorgeous Pinque Peacock Elegant Florals and layered them, along with a bronze filigree flower piece and a polymer clay flower I created and gold-leafed.  I used several different types of chains to make a very "fashion forward" necklace.  There are crystals, other bronze pieces, a stamped bronze heart, etc. used in this piece.  I think it is perfect to wear for Valentine's Day with my wonderful husband.  I love how it turned out.  I hope that you will think of Pinque Peacock for more than just your paper crafts in this New Year.  Make your resolution to use more Pinque Peacock products every day!
